  1. Aims and objective of the organization
  • Prevention of HIV transmission and to control its spread in Delhi.
  • To reduce morbidity and mortality associated with HIV infection.
  • To reduce the adverse social and economic impact resulting from HIV infection.
  • To coordinate and strengthen STD/HIV/AIDS surveillance in Delhi.
  • To provide technical support in HIV/AIDS prevention and control to Government and Non-governmental Organization.
  • To enhance the community awareness about HIV/AIDS for its prevention and control.
  • To develop materials for distribution and adoption by agencies working in AIDS prevention and control.
  • To promote, channelize and integrate the activities of Non-government Organizations for AIDS prevention and control.
  • To promote safety of blood and blood products and undertake, support and catalyze voluntary blood donation movement.
  • To provide facilities to strengthen STD control services in Government, Non-government sector and Private Medical Sector.
  • To develop counseling services on the disease of HIV/AIDS and related issues.
  • To mobilize support social, financial or otherwise for management of HIV infected person (PLWHAs)

Mission

            -     Prevention of new infections in high risk groups and vulnerable population

-         Increasing the proportion of persons living with HIV/AIDS receiving care and treatment

-         Strengthening the infrastructure system and human resources in prevention and treatment programs at the state.

-         Establishing state wise strategic , planning ,programme management , monitoring , and evaluation.

-         To make Delhi AIDS free  

  1. Brief history and background for its establishment

 Delhi State AIDS Control Society(DSACS) is registered under Societies Registration Act as a society and was formed in 1998 to undertake activities and programmes to prevent and control spread of HIV/AIDS and also provide care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS in the NCT of Delhi.

 It receives funds from National AIDS Control Organization(NACO), M/o H & FW, GOI. It is the nodal body, which is funding and implementing progammes through State AIDS Control Societies. Health Minister is the President of the Society and Principal Secretary(AIDS CONTROL), Delhi is Chairperson Of The Executive Committee. The implementation of the programme is done by Project Director along with other officers of the society.

  1. Services offered by DSACS :
    • VCTC Services : Through 26 VCTCs, counseling & testing servicesare being provided. In addition to this 13 mobile VCTCs (MITWA Scheme) are also providing the same services and general health treatment in slum & JJ clusters
    • PPTCT Services : Through 10 PPTCT Centers Counseling & Testing services are being provided to the women attending Ante natal clinics.
    • STD Clinics : Through 10 Centers, diagnosis and treatment is being provided to the general public.
    • ART Clinics : Through 6 centers free ARV drugs are being provided to AIDS patients.
    • Awareness and outreach services about HIV-AIDS are being provided to the general public and high risk population through mass media and NGOs.
    • Free Condoms are also distributed in high risk areas through NGOs
    • Toll free no. – 1097 is also available to the general public for tele counseling.

 

  1. Generally basic information about HIV-AIDS specifically routes of transmission, risk perception, prevention measures and myths & misconception are the frequently asked question as information.

In addition to this public also enquire about availability of services. (However there is no formal requisition for seeking information is received.)
